STATEMENT
For over a decade, painting and photography have transformed my way and purpose of creating images from a sensitive perspective.
The process begins with an idea that goes through a series of stages: research, exploration, and tests, leading to reflections, hypotheses, and connections until reaching the materiality, support, and final image.
My artistic creation process starts with the relationship I have with others in my environment, whether it’s the street, the neighborhood, or family, among others. It is a self-referential search where I ponder my daily life in different territories of Valle del Cauca, with a special interest in the landscape characteristics, spaces of movement like sidewalks and passages, and human relationships. In this context, I explore how we interact and coexist in common spaces, from the street as a broad and public space to the limited path within the intimacy of a home, paying attention to social, cultural, economic, and psychological dynamics. My goal is to manifest, through figuration, how I perceive and intuit my environment.
DECLARACIÓN DE ARTISTA
Desde hace más de una década, la pintura y la fotografía han transformado mi manera y propósito de crear imágenes desde una perspectiva sensible.
El proceso comienza con una idea que atraviesa una serie de etapas: investigación, exploración y pruebas, que conllevan a una serie de reflexiones, hipótesis y relaciones hasta llegar a la materialidad, el soporte y la imagen.
Mi proceso de creación artística inicia con la relación que tengo con los otros en mi entorno, ya sea en la calle, el vecindario, la familia, entre otros. Es una búsqueda autorreferencial en la que pondero mi cotidianidad en diferentes territorios del Valle del Cauca, teniendo especial interés en las características paisajísticas, los espacios de movimiento como aceras y pasajes, y las relaciones humanas. En este contexto, exploro cómo interactuamos y coexistimos en espacios comunes, desde la calle como un espacio amplio y público hasta el limitado recorrido dentro de la intimidad de una casa, prestando atención a las dinámicas sociales, culturales, económicas y psicológicas. Mi objetivo es manifestar, a través de la figuración, cómo percibo e intuyo mi entorno.
